Hi Chiefs Fans,
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Amy, and I’m a third-year member and captain for the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleading squad. I am also this year’s Pro Bowl representative for the club. I bet a lot of you didn’t even know that NFL Cheerleaders are selected for the Pro Bowl too. Well they are and I’m very happy about that!
KCChiefs.com asked me if I would chronicle my
trip with an online Diary and so this is the first entry. Be sure to check back between now and the game to read
updates from the sunny shores of Honolulu. I’ll try not to rub it in too much.
Our team selects their representative based on votes from our squad, Heartbeat staff, and other members of our Arrowhead team. This year they announced that I was going at the halftime of our Christmas Eve game against the Chargers. That was definitely a moment I will never forget. I never thought I would see myself crying on the Jumbotron!
I know that there are at least 24 other girls who felt that same rush this year. An NFL Cheerleader from each team is selected to participate in the Pro Bowl as well. There are only 25 of us because not every team in the NFL has cheerleaders. I have never met any of these women, but I’ll be spending 10 beautiful days in Hawaii with them. I can’t wait.
I have been working very hard to prepare for this trip. I have learned 12 routines off of a DVD that they sent me the week I was nominated. I had to have a Pro Bowl autograph card made and I have some brand new pieces for my Chiefs uniform. I’ve also been meeting with former Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader Pro Bowl representatives. Other than that, I’ve been working out very hard, still going to work everyday and making time for myself!
I will be in great company out in Hawaii. It is so exciting that we also have six Chiefs players participating in the game! I hope to see a lot of Chiefs Red in the stands to cheer along with me. Go AFC!
I am so honored to be able to represent all of you Chiefs fans out there in Hawaii. I am excited that you will all be able to live my trip with me through this diary.
Until next time…Go Chiefs!
Amy
