Shanna, the Chiefs 2007 Pro Bowl Cheerleader, is back from Hawaii and wants to share all the behind the scenes details of her journey with you. Check it out! CHEER: SHANNA’S PRO BOWL DIARY
SPOTLIGHT ON … KRISSY
“People who know me as a Chiefs Cheerleader are usually shocked to find out my occupation. I am a software engineer.
Let’s see, that would be a computer nerd! Even when I was in school, my mentors thought majoring in dance and computer
science was odd. They told me it was rare that the outgoing, physically active girl who loved to dance would also be at
home for long hours at a computer doing engineering work. But that’s me! I especially like to tell little girls what I
do, to help break the stereotypes about what a cheerleader is ‘supposed to be.’ We’re very proud of all the Chiefs
Cheerleaders, where you’ll find architects, law school graduates, teachers, emergency room nurses, pharmaceutical sales
reps, and accountants. ”
ATTEND THE AUDITION PREP CLASS ON MARCH 3rd
Want to know what gets a girl’s blood pumping? Just remind her that auditions are right around the corner! To prepare for the March 24th Chiefs Cheerleader Auditions, we recommend candidates attend the March 3rd Prep Class. It’s off the hook crazy, meeting candidates, learning about the program, dancing ‘til you drop, and heart-stopping fun! Don’t miss it! Taught by Hartbeat Staff and Cheer Group 4 (captain Amy, Savannah, Catherine, Alyssa, Brooke, Lexi, Mary, Mallorie, and Alicia). Register online now!
Chiefs Cheerleader Lexi told us she couldn’t wait to teach her first prep class: “Come to our class and you’ll be
amazed at how this team is different from anything you’ve ever seen!” Lexi is excited to share the squad’s
commitment to be non-gossiping, ‘eyebrows up’ (optimistic no matter what) kind of cheerleaders. “We’re always asked how
we get along. People are surprised to hear we have awesome teamwork, without girls being argumentative or
self-centered. It is what we’re taught and we love it. The focus is always on improving our life skills, helping
others, and keeping our attitudes right every day. Being a Chiefs Cheerleader isn’t a job; it’s who you are and a way
of life that will last long after we hang up our pom pons.”
March 3rd class includes a Chiefs overview with the director, dance style and technique, attire, Heart Habits, and
leaps and turns. You’ll learn two Chiefs Cheerleader routines and meet other candidates auditioning. Join the fun! See
you on March 3rd!
