Kansas City Signs LB David Herron, CB Mike Richardson
Sep 30, 2009, 10:08:48 AMThe Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that the club has signed free agents LB David Herron and CB Mike Richardson.
Herron (6-1, 239) played in 16 games (three starts) with Minnesota (2007-08), recording eight tackles (five solo), one QB pressure and nine special teams tackles. He played in one postseason contest with the Vikings, as well. He also spent one week with New England (2007), but was inactive. Herron originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Minnesota in 2007. Herron played in 50 games (34 starts) at Michigan State, finishing his collegiate career with 247 tackles, 19.0 stops for loss and 7.0 sacks. He prepped at Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio.
Richardson (5-11, 190) appeared in 10 games with New England in 2008 after spending his rookie season on injured reserve. He has four tackles and eight special teams stops. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (202nd overall) of New England in the 2007 NFL Draft. He played in 49 games at Notre Dame, posting 121 tackles (84 solo), 13.0 tackles for loss, eight INTs, 12 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He prepped at Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia.
