It seems like it’s been one player the last couple weeks, WR Steve Smith last week, WR Miles Austin this week, that
had the big plays? “Yeah, big plays got us again. He (Austin) was on the receiving end of a few of those. At the end of
the day, you’ve got to make one more play than the other team if you want to win, and so far we haven’t been able to do
that.”
Did you guys feel like you had all the confidence going into overtime after that last drive? “Yeah, absolutely. I thought the offense did a great job of giving us a chance. They got us into overtime. We won the coin toss, and like I said, we didn’t make that one more play than they did. Credit goes to them, they got the job done.”
On Austin’s first touchdown, Romo identified you and picked up your blitz because he got rid of the ball really quickly. Is that what you think happened? “We were hoping that having a DB right there in the box would confuse their protection calls, but they did a good job most of the day turning the right way and picking up most of our blitzes.”
Coach felt confident going into overtime with not going for two points, talk about him having confidence in you to have them kick off? “He gave us a chance to win the game in overtime. It’s great when your head coach believes in you and I think the whole sideline believed we were going to win that coin toss, run down and score and win the game. Unfortunately, we just didn’t get it done today.”
DE Glenn Dorsey said that even though it was a tough loss, he still feels like the team is heading in the right direction. Do you feel that there are positives to take away? “I do. I think if you look at all three phases there were a lot of good things done. If we win that game we can focus on a whole lot of good stuff on all sides of the ball. Unfortunately, when you lose, you don’t get that luxury and you have to focus on those few mistakes that killed you. I think that after we watch tape tomorrow and get those mistakes corrected, there’s still going to be a positive vibe, that hey, we’ve got something build on, something to work with going into next week.”
G WADE SMITH
It seems like the offense took a turn for the better in this game. What was the demeanor like in the huddle? “I think
we showed something about ourselves. We were down after being up most of the game, then we came back, and we didn’t
quit. That’s not the type of team we are, we don’t quit. We got the game into overtime and the offense had an
opportunity to win the game. We had the ball at the 50-yard line, and as an offense, we have to take advantage of that
and get points.”
As you look forward to Washington next week, how do you move past this loss? “You have to, that’s what we do. We’re professionals. This one is going to hurt, it’s going to sink in for the rest of the night, but tomorrow, we’re going to watch the film and move on to the next week.”
WR BOBBY WADE
On losing a tough game? “It really hurts in overtime, obviously. One thing about this team and the players in this
locker room, we don’t give up. It is a tough loss at home and those are the ones that hurt the most, but we did come
together offensively a little bit today and we did some good things.”
C RUDY NISWANGER
What was the plan coming into this game with the run? “We planned on running the ball and on throwing it. I haven’t
seen film but I think it was a lack of execution, especially in the running game. It comes down to one person missing a
block, not finishing a block or whatever it is.”
On injuries to the offense line: “We had some people out at times and others filled in. That is why we have backups because it is a part of the game. We were just hoping that one more didn’t go down.”
What positives do you take from this game? “At the end of the fourth quarter we need a touchdown to tie and we drove down and got it. That is something we haven’t been able to do here in a while. We didn’t get a win here but, in that aspect, we put together a pretty good drive to tie it up.”
S JARRAD PAGE
Does this one hurt more than the others? “You are feeling like the game is going to go a certain way and then it ends
like that, especially defensively it is tough. It hurts, but at this point I wouldn’t say that losing this game hurts
worse than losing the last. We just need to win a game. It is disappointing that we continue to do something during the
game to not win.”
