Chiefs Awarded WR Chris Chambers Via Waiver Claim

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that the club has been awarded WR Chris Chambers via a waiver claim. Chambers was waived by San Diego on Monday.

Chambers (5-11, 210) has played in 131 games (111 starts) with Miami (2001-2007) and San Diego (2007-09). He has caught 482 passes for 6,827 yards (14.2 avg.) with 53 TDs and rushed 44 times for 373 yards (8.5 avg.). He also owns 36 kickoff returns for 811 yards (22.5 avg.). Chambers played in 31 games (21 starts) with San Diego, recording 77 receptions for 1,139 yards (14.8 avg.) with 10 TDs. He was acquired by the Chargers in a trade with Miami in 2007. He originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick (52nd overall) of Miami in the 2001 NFL Draft. In 100 games (90 starts) with the Dolphins, he caught 405 passes for 5,688 yards (14.0 avg.) with 43 TDs.

The Cleveland, Ohio native was a second-team All-Big 10 selection as a junior at Wisconsin. Chambers caught 127 passes for 2,004 yards (15.8 avg.) with 16 TDs during his three-year career with the Badgers. He was a two-time all-state performer at Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio.
