RB JAMAAL CHARLES
On the TD run, how did it develop?
“I guess they had a blitz up the middle and we had a perfect play and I just took it to the house.”

Was there any doubt in your mind that once you made it into the secondary that you wouldn’t score? “I didn’t know because I knew they had a fast guy on that side, too so I knew it was going to be a race to the end zone.”

But you raced against a couple of guys? “Yeah, I did. All I wanted to do was make a play and get the team and the fans back into the game.”

What happened after that in the late drives? “We just didn’t execute on the plays that coach called and I guess we all have to step up the next time we get the opportunity like this because we could have won the ball game.”

You weren’t returning kicks and on the kickoff team, was that by design? “Yeah, they’re just trying to get me ready to run the ball more and get ready and focused on just trying to be a running back. I think it worked today, but I still would have gone in on special teams to help my team out.”

What’s the feeling among the team right now? “It’s sad that it was another loss. We practiced hard this whole week and to come out today and lose the game, it’s just hard.”

G/T WADE SMITH
Did the Bills do anything to surprise you or was it just one of those days?
“They didn’t really do anything that we didn’t expect. We had big-play opportunities and we didn’t capitalize on all of them. The defense gave us the ball numerous times and, as an offense, we have to cash in on those and we didn’t do that.”

What was the message from Coach (Todd) Haley after the game? “After the game, he let us know that he saw us out there fighting, clawing and scratching. Times are going to get better around here, but today, we came up short – we didn’t do what we needed to [in order] to win the game.”

On the game
: “I dropped a pick that led to three points. We had penalties. So you do those things in tight games, it usually gets you beat.”

They were able to get 200 yards rushing; a lot of it was on a long 47-yard run. Can you talk about that? “We didn’t do a good enough job, obviously. We’ll have to look at it, see what happened and just try to get it corrected.”

You did get a couple nice plays on defense, like the interception from CB Brandon Flowers in the end zone: “Yeah, big play down there. They had a short field and we had a couple good plays in a row. They took a shot and tried to score a touchdown and Brandon made a good play getting his hands on the ball and catching it.”

LB MIKE VRABEL
You’ve got a running back who has made big plays this year
: “Yeah, he can take it the distance, certainly, every time he touches the ball. It’s fun to watch. It (the 76-yard touchdown run) was a big play and it got us back in the game.”

S JON MCGRAW
Obviously very disappointing, your thoughts in general?
“I thought everybody fought hard until the end. Once again, at the end of the game, we just couldn’t come up with the plays to win it. It’s frustrating but we’ve got to do what we’ve been doing the last few weeks; keep trusting that we are headed in the right direction and focus on what we did well and try to get the mistakes corrected.”

How do you go into these last three games when you aren’t playing for a lot, but it still matters as a player? “There are a couple things that go through your mind. One is that we still have a lot of players that have a lot of pride. You go out there and you want to give it your best because of that. Secondly, looking forward into next season it’s real important for us to finish strong here. That’s going to be another motivating factor for us. Hopefully we can build off a little bit of momentum from today, at least making it a close game at the end and come out and get some wins here in the last three games.”
